Imec: a world-class innovation hub.

Salvo's founder Sam Buyst has been working with tech company imec for over 20 years. Since its inception in 1984, the Belgian innovation hub has become a leader in nano-electronics and digital technologies. With 3500 scientists in research centres around the world, imec has long been regarded as Belgium’s equivalent to Silicon Valley.

The recent merger with iMinds has allowed imec to meld its world-class expertise on nanotechnology with iMinds' leading ICT research. Salvo’s role in rebranding the newly formed company was critical in establishing its position as one of Europe's most innovative technology businesses. Salvo allowed imec's ethos - embracing a better life - to permeate through to its visual and branding identity.

Salvo recently worked with imec on its latest research venture, Mission Lucidity. The project aims to decode dementia with the intention of curing or preventing the disease. The founders want to upscale Mission Lucidity's potential by attracting external funding from partners such as The Google Foundation and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Salvo was responsible for the project's branding and strategy.

In December 2018, Mission Lucidity was granted over one million dollars in funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative - Mark Zuckerberg's charity foundation.
